About This:

This blog was born out of my desire to write, a hobby that I cultivated when I was about 11 or 12, writing about whatever came into my head, but mostly about video games. I’ve been playing video games since I was about 3 years old, starting on the original PlayStation. From there, I moved to the PlayStation 2, where my burgeoning love of sports intersected with my love of video games. During this time when I was growing up, I began to look at video games with a reverence that suggested they were more than fun little diversions, but rather a legitimate medium like film or music. That view was reinforced as I grew up, and games got more advanced. As technological advancements happened, so too did the advancement of technology and narrative quality. And so, my love of the medium grew to where it is now. This blog, established in 2020, will try to capture my unique voice, and my unique tastes when it comes to video games, but also fulfill an important mission.

I’ve noticed, just like in the real world, there’s division and strife in gaming discourse today. The console wars, long a forgotten relic of 1990s marketing, have reignited. Console loyalty is everywhere, and each side is looking for a leg up. Each side points to near-imperceptible differences in processing power for superiority, and the major publishers are hard at work consolidating the industry by scooping up smaller publishing companies and as a result, the average gamer is losing out. This strives to be a space for my reviews, yes. But also a space for discussion about games and other media of all kinds, as I am a multifaceted person and don’t like to limit myself. Because at our core, we all play games and we all love games, so why not discuss them?

What I play on:

The majority of my reviews will be on PS5…

…and some PS2, as well as Nintendo Switch

My Mission:

At its core, this blog’s mission is to:

  1. Provide readers with entertaining, well researched, and well written reviews of games

  2. Provide readers with quality longform and “history pieces”

  3. Be a unique voice, standing out among the masses of corporate gaming outlets, and establish a unique identity with that voice.

These three tenants have guided my blog from the very beginning, and I believe that each and every one of my posts are emblematic of them. I post whenever I feel like it and whenever I have time, but when I do have time, you can find one once every 2 weeks or so here. Thank you for reading!
